A mass rally against antisemitism is set to take place outside Downing Street on Sunday, May 10th at 1 p.m., bringing together leading Jewish organisations and community groups under the banner “Britain Stands with British Jews.”
The event is backed by organisations including the Jewish Leadership Council, the Board of Deputies of British Jews, and the Union of Jewish Students. Organisers say the demonstration is intended to highlight growing concerns about antisemitism and rising extremism in the UK.
Several political figures have been invited to speak, including senior party leaders, although it remains unclear which government representatives will attend. Downing Street sources suggest it is unlikely the Labour Prime Minister will address the rally, but a government minister may appear.
Chief Rabbi Sir Ephraim Mirvis is among those expected to speak. He has called for stronger action against antisemitism, warning that hate speech and extremist activity must be confronted more effectively. He also urged accountability for foreign agents targeting the Jewish community in the UK.
The Jewish Leadership Council warned that antisemitism is “escalating into deadly acts of violence and terror,” while calling for broader public support beyond the Jewish community.
The march follows last week’s stabbing of two Jewish men in the Golders Green area of north London, which is home to a large Jewish community.
In March, an arson attack in the same neighbourhood destroyed four ambulances run by the Hatzola Jewish charity, while bottles suspected of containing petrol have been thrown at two synagogues in other separate incidents.
Under the slogan “be a #mensch,” the campaign group Our Fight is calling for mass participation in the protest by non-Jews in support of their embattled fellow citizens.
