An investigation into the English capital's property market has revealed a widespread practice of landlords illegally barring non-Muslim tenants from local housing, sparking calls for urgent enforcement of the law.

A major investigation has uncovered a burgeoning “underground” rental market across London and the South-East, where landlords are flagrantly violating the Equality Act 2010.

According to The Telegraph, properties are explicitly advertised  as “Muslim only.” By requesting specific religious or ethnic backgrounds, such as Punjabi or Gujarati, these listings are driving a segregated housing landscape that defies the British principle of equal treatment under the law.

The advertisements, discovered on major platforms including Facebook, Gumtree, and Telegram, frequently feature discriminatory directives such as “only for Muslims” or “suitable for Punjabi boy.”

Prominent national-conservative voices, including Reform UK’s Robert Jenrick, have branded the practice “anti-British,” warning that such blatant religious and racial profiling would trigger national outrage if other communities attempted to enforce similar exclusions.
