The Trump Organization, owned by U.S. president Donald Trump, has announced plans to construct Trump Tower Tbilisi, a 70-story skyscraper in the Georgian capital. The project will be developed as a joint venture with several key partners, including the U.S.-based Sapir Organization and four prominent Georgian firms: Archi Group, Biograpi Living, Blox Group, and Finvest Georgia.
If completed, Trump Tower Tbilisi would become the tallest building in the Caucasus by a significant margin, easily surpassing the current record holder, the Baku Tower in Azerbaijan. A press release from the organization stated
The tower is poised to play a defining role in Tbilisi’s emergence as a hub for international investment, culture, and elevated living at the crossroads of Eastern Europe and Asia.
Whether or not the project will succeed remains to be seen. An earlier Trump-style development plan for Belgrade, Serbia—linked to the Affinity Partners investment firm owned by Jared Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law—was abandoned amid controversy, including the criminal indictment of Serbian Minister of Culture Nikola Selakovic.
