The State Security Department of the United Arab Emirates announced on Monday the successful dismantling of an organization allegedly linked to Iran. According to official reports, the group was involved in planning “systematic terrorist and sabotage operations” within the country.
Investigations by state security authorities have reportedly established connections between the organization and the Velayat-e Faqih (‘Guardianship of the Jurist’) group in Iran. The authorities shared the names and photographs of 27 individuals currently in custody, without disclosing their nationalities. The suspects face multiple serious charges, including “establishing and operating a secret organisation, running it from the UAE, pledging allegiance to foreign entities, and harming national unity and social peace.”
The security apparatus highlighted that the group’s activities were not limited to physical sabotage. The organization allegedly sought to “spread misleading ideas among Emirati youth” and recruit individuals to serve foreign interests. Furthermore, the group is accused of attempting to “infiltrate sensitive positions” and inciting opposition to the UAE’s internal policies and diplomatic standing. Financial activities were also cited, with the group accused of collecting funds and funneling them to “suspicious foreign entities.”
