Russian President Vladimir Putin’s top economic envoy Kirill Dmitriev met U.S. officials in Florida on Saturday, January 31st, for talks, a source close to the matter shared with AFP. The identities of the U.S. officials involved in the talks were not disclosed.
Dmitriev said on social media that he had “returned to Miami” ahead of the meeting, without providing further details.
The meeting came just one day before Ukrainian and Russian delegations were scheduled to resume discussions in Abu Dhabi on a U.S.-proposed plan to bring an end to the conflict. While Washington says both sides are close to an agreement, the fate of territories in a post-war settlement remains unresolved.
