Armenia is currently hosting two unprecedented summits in Yerevan, signaling a major geopolitical shift in the South Caucasus. On Monday, over 30 European leaders gathered for the European Political Community (EPC) summit, joined by Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney. As the first non-European leader to attend, Carney urged closer cooperation against “strongman politics,” stating that nations are not destined to submit to a “brutal and insular world.”

On Tuesday, the focus shifts to the first-ever EU–Armenia summit, featuring European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and António Costa. Ukraine’s president Volodymyr Zelensky is also taking part in the talks today.

Moscow is reportedly watching with “irritation” as its long-time ally strengthens ties with Brussels.
