New round of meetings scheduled, with the minimum goal of obtaining security guarantees for Ukraine.

Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky announced that a series of high-level talks with U.S. and European leaders will be held in early January to strengthen Kyiv’s international support and advance diplomatic efforts in the fourth year of the war with Russia.

The Ukrainian leadership and its international partners are planning a sequence of meetings beginning in early January. The first meeting, scheduled for Saturday in Ukraine, will include 15 countries, European Union institutions, and NATO, focusing on national security advisers, with U.S. officials participating via video link.

Meanwhile, “on January 5, a meeting of army chiefs of staff will take place, with security guarantees for Ukraine as the main issue,”  according to Zelensky in a social media message.

The self-styled “Coalition of the Willing” of Ukraine’s supporters will also meet in France. This gathering—led by the host nation, United Kingdom, and Germany—will include heads of state. It aims to maintain diplomatic momentum, coordinate strategy with Western allies, and increase security guarantees and support for Ukraine amid renewed Russian drone attacks.

Formally at least, the ultimate goal of the meetings is to secure broader international support for Kyiv and to explore all diplomatic options to end the four-year conflict.
