Russia has arrested a German woman accused of carrying a bomb in her backpack as part of an alleged terrorist plot targeting a security-related facility in southern Russia.

According to the Federal Security Service (FSB), the woman, born in 1969, was detained in the city of Pyatigorsk in the Stavropol region. Authorities said she was found in possession of an improvised explosive device containing the equivalent of around 1.5 kilograms of TNT.

The FSB stated that the device was allegedly intended to be used in what it described as a “terrorist attack planned by the Kyiv regime” against a law enforcement facility. It claimed the woman had been drawn into the plot by a citizen of a Central Asian country, who was allegedly acting under instructions from Ukraine.

Officials said the explosive device was designed to be detonated remotely, but that the attack was prevented through electronic jamming. No injuries were reported.
