Estonia is constructing a new steel fence on its southeast border with Russia, after other Baltic countries and Poland have already fortified their borders, Euractiv.com reports.
Estonia finishes the first 23 kilometres of a 2.5-metre high fence made of steel and equipped with barbed wire – the country is modernising the whole border control apparatus.
According to a report published by the Finnish Broadcasting Company (YLE), another 35 kilometres of border fence will be built before 2025. Once completed in 2027, there will be real-time camera surveillance along the entire border.
