Iranian-funded terrorists are embedding themselves in Swedish criminal gangs and planning wider attacks on citizens.

Having already pushed for a “zero-tolerance policy” against the Muslim Brotherhood, Sweden Democrats MEP Charlie Weimers is now urging European leaders to step up their response to Iranian Islamists who are threatening citizens across the West.

At a recent European Conservatives and Reformists (ECR) Group event, Weimers described how Islamists “on the Islamic Republic [of Iran]’s payroll” have infiltrated criminal gangs in Sweden in order to inflict the greatest amount of terror on wider society. He said that, for example, these are now

recruiting drone pilots in encrypted channels with the intent of targeting institutions and Swedish citizens, particularly those of Jewish descent.

This last point is hardly surprising, given the rising trend of antisemitism since October 7th, and underscores why so many Jewish people feel unsafe living in European countries.

Weimers stressed that this situation is only going to change if European leaders stop playing “good cop,” adding that

Cutting aid to regime-linked institutions and designating the IRGC [the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps] as a terrorist organisation would be a good start.

Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson also asked the EU to proscribe the IRGC towards the end of last year. This proposal has—unsurprisingly, given that it is a sensible one—fallen on deaf ears. The same has been the case in Britain.

Weimers has likewise criticised Brussels for funding Islamism across the continent, and says the European Union must “follow suit” from those countries—especially France, Sweden, and Belgium—which have recently begun to take the threat of the Muslim Brotherhood seriously.
