A hospital in the Netherlands has quarantined 12 staff members after exposure to samples from a hantavirus patient.

The WHO insists the hantavirus should not be compared to COVID-19 and that the public health risk posed by it is low.

The French PM said he would issue a decree in the evening on Sunday authorising the appropriate isolation measures to be put in place to protect the public.

Spanish authorities said the last evacuation flight from the quarantined cruise ship would depart on Monday, as passengers underwent final health checks following a deadly hantavirus outbreak.

The head of the World Health Organisation said the risk to the public remains low.
