Health officials in Paris and The Hague have confirmed a wave of negative hantavirus tests, offering hope that the outbreak linked to the MV Hondius has been successfully contained.

The WHO insists the hantavirus should not be compared to COVID-19 and that the public health risk posed by it is low.

The French PM said he would issue a decree in the evening on Sunday authorising the appropriate isolation measures to be put in place to protect the public.

The head of the World Health Organisation said the risk to the public remains low.
