After French prime minister Francois Bayrou said on Saturday that he was considering proposing a national referendum over the country’s budget, now President Macron is apparently going to announce “not one, but several” on May 13th, at least according to Le Figaro.
The French paper said the president will appear live on prime time French TF1, and address the French people directly for the second time since March 5th, when he was speaking on Ukraine aid and European defence.
Le Figaro said Macron may ask the French to express their views on more than one issue, posed within the same questionnaire. The paper said the French will be able to respond to the questions of what appears to be more like a poll than a referendum “on the same day” as the announcement is made.
