Hungary openly opposes Ukraine’s EU membership and has been vocal about it, that is why it has found itself at the centre of international attacks, Hungarian conservative Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said in an interview on Friday, June 6th.
The forces that want to push Ukraine into the European Union are attacking Hungary, together with the Ukrainians.

Hungary has come under fire from liberals all across Europe, as well as Ukraine, for not being willing to send military support to its neighbour in its war with invading Russia.
The government of Hungary also opposes the non-merit-based, fast-track accession of Ukraine to the EU, saying it will hurt not only the Hungarian but also the European economy.
In the interview, Orbán said Hungarians must resist Ukraine’s accession, because, he warned, “people would lose what they have.” He added that “Ukraine would absorb the funds and pull resources out of Central Europe. We must protect what is ours.”
The government is currently conducting a so-called national consultation, asking voters whether they agree to Ukraine’s EU membership or not.
The PM said that due to Hungary’s stance, Brussels, together with Ukraine, is now attempting to build a puppet government in Hungary. He was referring to Péter Magyar, the leader of the main opposition party, which is a member of the hawkish, Europhile, anti-Orbán European People’s Party (EPP).
The prime minister said that the pro-Ukraine forces have infiltrated even the highest levels of the military.
Coinciding with his words, Hungarian security expert József Horváth recently said that with the Hungarian national elections coming up next year, Hungary is now the target of covert actions from Ukraine, which is increasingly portraying its neighbour as an enemy.
Horváth warned that Ukraine may even begin to launch sabotage attacks or other direct actions against Hungary, a threat that has risen since Ukraine’s successful attack on Russia’s strategic bomber fleet.
