Greta Thunberg’s Gaza Flotilla Leaves Tunisia

Boatloads of pro-Palestinian campaigners—including the Swedish climate activist—claim they are headed to Gaza to break Israel’s blockade.

A Gaza-bound flotilla carrying aid and pro-Palestinian activists set sail from Tunisia on Monday, September 15th, aiming to challenge Israel’s blockade and create a “humanitarian corridor.”

We are also trying to send a message to the people of Gaza that the world has not forgotten about you.

About 20 boats from Barcelona met in Bizerte, with the last departing at dawn. The Global Sumud Flotilla reported that two of its vessels were hit by drone attacks last week.

After the second incident, Tunisian authorities denounced what they called a “premeditated aggression” and launched an investigation.

The departure had been repeatedly postponed due to security concerns, delays in preparing some of the boats and weather conditions.
