Yemen’s Houthi militia will cease its attacks on Red Sea shipping, reports suggest. This climbdown was likely prompted by U.S. retaliation, following months of drone and missile attacks, amid Biden-era dithering from Western militaries.

The recent Houthi offensive against Ben Gurion airport led to Israeli retaliation, striking the rebel-held Sana’a airport and other locations, including a cement factory close to Yemen’s Houthi stronghold.

Despite its ‘capitulating’ in President Donald Trump’s words, official messaging from the Iran-backed group—whose official slogan is: “God is the Greatest Death to America Death to Israel Curse be upon the Jews Victory to Islam”—says it will not end its campaign against Israel.

Trump declared:

We had some very good news last night. The Houthis have announced that they are not, or they’ve announced to us at least, that they don’t want to fight any more.

Trump’s scheduled tour of the Middle East starts on Monday, May 12th.
