The amount that Hungary has been deprived of as punishment for its anti-immigration policies has now reached a stunning half a billion euros.
The Central European nation was dealt a severe blow last year by the European Court of Justice which ordered the country to pay a lump sum of €200 million, with an additional €1 million a day for failing to comply with EU asylum policies.
The total fine has now reached €512 million which will be deducted from the billions of euros of EU funds that the EU has withheld from Hungary under the pretext of ‘rule of law violations.’
