Following the recent parliamentary elections in Bulgaria, the Kremlin has expressed a notably positive outlook regarding the victory of Rumen Radev and his party.
Radev secured a win while advocating for the restoration of diplomatic dialogue with Russia as the proper course of action.
In response, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters in a daily briefing:
“Of course, the words of Mr Radev … as well as some other European leaders about their readiness to resolve problems through dialogue, appeal to us.”
After some initial silence, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen also said she was looking forward to working with Radev “for the prosperity and security” of Europe. She wrote on X “Bulgaria is a proud member of the European family and plays an important role in tackling our common challenges.”
