Ankara on Monday, March 9th confirmed a second ballistic missile was shot down by NATO defenses in Turkish airspace. Since the U.S.-Israeli actions began on February 28th, Iran has retaliated with missile and drone strikes across the Middle East in an effort to hit U.S. assets in the region.
According to Turkey’s Defense Ministry:
A ballistic munition launched from Iran and entering Turkish airspace was neutralized by NATO air and missile defense assets in the eastern Mediterranean.
Against this backdrop of heightened regional insecurity, French President Emmanuel Macron discussed regional security with the leaders of Cyprus and Greece. His visit to Cyprus followed last week’s drone attacks on the island nation and European Union member state (which the gormless Deputy Prime Minister of the United Kingdom David Lammy wrongly described as a NATO member) .
Separately, Macron also spoke to Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu about the situation in the Middle East and Lebanon. According to the BBC, the French president would be safe to meet face-to-face with Netanyahu, since Iran’s missiles are “intentionally limited” in range to just 124 miles (200km). This prompted journalist David Collier to ask
@bbcnews… Are you gaslighting us?
You have literally quoted Iran’s Foreign Minister as saying Iran’s missiles are “intentionally limited” to just 124 miles (200km)…
Israel is being hit by ballistic missiles fired from over 2000km away..
How does that work?
