Iran’s Supreme Leader paid tribute to the fallen officer, calling him a defender of the nation and its faith.

Iran confirmed on Monday, March 30th that an Israeli strike killed Alireza Tangsiri, the Commander of the Naval Force of the Revolutionary Guards. Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz described him as the

man who was directly responsible for the terrorist operation of mining and blocking the Strait of Hormuz.

A statement carried by the Guards’ Sepah News website said Alireza Tangsiri “succumbed to severe injuries” resulting from the attack last week.

Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, extended his condolences in a message on Telegram. He hailed Tangsiri as “a soldier of Iran and guardian of Islam” during the conflict. The attack adds to the growing tally of U.S. and Israeli combat successes, including a hit on the Tehran headquarters of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard’s “space force” unit.
