The "clock is ticking," Tehran is told as its peace proposals are derided as “garbage.”

President Donald Trump has prompted Iran to reach an acceptable agreement on its nuclear programme and military activity with the U.S., which would revive and conclude the current stalled peace talks.

Taking to his Truth Social platform, Trump wrote:

They better get moving, FAST, or there won’t be anything left of them. TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE!

The message, posted on Sunday, May 17th, preceded a call with regional ally Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Both leaders initiated air strikes on Iran on February 28th, since paused by the current ceasefire arrangement, which Pakistan is working to maintain.

Several news agencies linked to the Islamic Republic regime have since carried the official line, which is that the Iranian position is generous and the U.S. one is unreasonable. Comments reportedly from government figures indicate that Tehran wants ceasefire terms to include ‘sovereign’ control of the Strait of Hormuz and an end to operations against its proxy Hezbollah conducted by Israel.
