Zelensky mission aims to jumpstart stagnant negotiations with Moscow—and resume prisoner exchanges.

Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky announced he will visit Turkey on Wednesday, November 18th to “reinvigorate” stalled peace talks with Russia and restore prisoner-of-war exchanges.

Negotiations in Istanbul earlier this year failed to achieve a ceasefire, with Moscow continuing attacks on Ukrainian cities. Zelensky said he has prepared new proposals for discussion but did not specify who he will meet.

Prisoner exchanges have been the only concrete results of previous talks, with the last swap taking place in early October, involving 185 prisoners each.

The visit comes as Zelensky tours Europe to secure military and humanitarian support, including a recent agreement with France for up to 100 fighter aircraft and drones. There was no immediate response from Russia to his announcement.
