At least seven civilians lost their lives, and another 40 were injured as Ukrainian drone wreckage crashed in the southern Russian village of Arkhipo-Osipovka, near Gelendzhik, on Monday, August 3rd.
Claiming the target of the assault was civilian infrastructure, Veniamin Kondratyev—the governor of the Krasnodar region—announced that there were children among the injured. The Ukrainian military has yet to comment on the reported attack. The drone may have originally targeted the Russian naval base in Novorossiysk, located about 40 km from Gelendzhik.
The same day saw Russian authorities report Ukrainian artillery and drone attacks from several regions.
Last week, Ukraine attacked Russian territories and strategic targets many times. Recently, the logistics of the Russian online retailer Wildberries were heavily targeted. While shaking the Russian economy and banking system, these Ukrainian drone strikes also cost Wildberries about 10% of its warehouse capacity and a massive amount of inventory.
Kyiv stated that its forces are attacking “Russia’s Amazon” because it plays a significant role in supplying Moscow’s armed forces. The Kremlin acknowledged that the government has discussed possible support for Wildberries, which announced that it has so far paid out 40 million rubles to the relatives of those who lost their lives or were injured in the Ukrainian drone strikes on the warehouses.
