Defence Minister Israel Katz said the operation was intended “to remove threats against the State of Israel.”

Israeli media reports that Israel has launched a pre-emptive strike on Iran, and the government has declared a nationwide emergency.

Photos and videos on social media now emerging from Tehran and surrounding areas show explosions in the Iranian capital. Early reports and footage of possible Tomahawk Land Attack Missiles (TLAM) over Iraq have also surfaced, which suggests that the attack may be a joint U.S.-Israeli operation. Israeli media has also suggested Washington’s involvement.
