A group of MEPs has excoriated Canada’s globalist prime minister Justin Trudeau for the unprecedently oppressive methods he employed to crush the country’s ‘Freedom Convoy’ protests, labeling him a neo-Marxist tyrant, dictator, unabashed hypocrite, and disgrace to democracy.
The less-than-warm greeting, which took place on Wednesday in Brussels, came from German, French, Romanian, and Croatian Members of the European Parliament (MEPs), following a speech where Trudeau ironically presented himself as a defender of democracy, a staunch advocate for the rule of law, and a guardian of the civilized world.
Of the handful of parliamentarians who took aim at Trudeau, German MEP Christine Anderson—who among other things slammed the Canadian leader for his past praise of the Chinese dictatorship—offered the most scathing and memorable criticism.
“I would like to point out that it would have been more appropriate for Mr. Trudeau—Prime Minister of Canada—to address this house, according to article 144,” the Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) lawmaker began. “An article which was specifically designed to debate violations of human rights, democracy, and the rule of law, which is clearly the case with Mr. Trudeau.”
“Then again, a Prime Minister who openly admires the Chinese ‘basic dictatorship’, who tramples on fundamental rights by persecuting and criminalizing his own citizens as terrorists, just because they dared to stand up to his perverted concept of democracy, should not be allowed to speak in this house at all,” Anderson went on.
“Mr. Trudeau, you are a disgrace for any democracy,” she declared. “Please spare us your presence.”
German MEP Bernhard Zimniok (ID) also set his sights on the Canadian prime minister as he took to the podium to address the chamber, at one point questioning why he had been invited to speak in the first place.
“[The EU] invitation to Canadian PM Justin Trudeau is an invitation to someone who’s been trampling on democratic rights, who’s been cracking down on people protested against disproportionate corona measures, who supported a non-sanctioned movement coming under criticism,” Zimniok said.
“So, clearly, the values of democracy are despised by this individual. Let us not give someone like this any speaking time in this house of democracy.
The skewering didn’t end there, however. Croatian MEP Mislav Kolakusic (ECR) went so far as to call Trudeau’s government a “dictatorship of the worst kind.”
“To defend our rights and the rights of our children, which we have acquired over the centuries, many of us are ready to risk our own freedom and our lives. Unfortunately, there are those among us who trample on these fundamental values,” Kolakusic said, tacitly referring to Trudeau.
“Canada, once a symbol of the modern world, has become a symbol of civil rights violations under your quasi-liberal boot in recent months,” Kolakusic continued.
“We watched how you trample women with horses, how you block the bank account accounts of single parents so that they can’t even pay their children’s education and medicine. That they can’t pay utilities [or] mortgages for their homes.”
Romanian MEP Cristian Terhes (ECR), who refused to attend Trudeau’s speech out of principle, instead took to social media to slam the Canadian prime minister.
“I refused to validate, by my presence, the façade of the Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who gave a speech before the Plenary of the European Parliament on 23.03.2022. It was the reason for which I was not in the room when he spoke,” Terhes wrote.
“Between the Russian imperialist tyranny, promoted by Putin, and the neo-Marxist tyranny pretending to be progressivism promoted by the like of Trudeau, in which people are deprived of their rights and freedoms, becoming objects of the state, I do not choose any.”
“We must reject both such tyrannical options, and fight for the same conservative values that brought peace through prosperity in Europe: national sovereignty, individual freedom, and respect for human rights,” Terhes said in a later statement.
Meanwhile, French MEP Virginie Joron (ID) showed up to the European Parliament wearing a Freedom Convoy t-shirt emblazoned with Canadian and U.S. flags.
“To Brussels, on the occasion of Trudeau’s visit to the European Parliament, I pay tribute to all of those who stood up against his mad liberticidal policy,” Joron, of France’s Rassemblement National (RN), wrote in a post to social media.
