Pro-Palestinian activists preparing for what they describe as the “largest demonstration in Germany” on September 27th in Düsseldorf are promoting travel to the event in gender-segregated buses from Berlin. Several prominent Instagram accounts, including “Freedomaktivist” and “Palestinelobby,” each with tens of thousands of followers, have circulated details of the rally.
To coordinate, organizers have created two WhatsApp groups, one for men and one for women, while stressing: “Women and men will sit separately—for a relaxed and peaceful journey.”
Pro-Palestinian groups in Germany have previously attempted to enforce gender segregation at rallies. In 2023, women were forced to march at the rear of a protest and were kept apart from men. At another demonstration in May 2024, organized by the Islamist group Muslim Interaktiv, authorities prohibited segregation in advance.
While the global Left continues to offer near-unconditional support for the Palestinian cause, it often remains silent on practices and behaviors that undermine European values of freedom, equality, and cultural life. The irony is particularly sharp when ‘progressive feminist’ groups stand behind movements that openly marginalize women.
No word on which bus ‘non-binary’ or ‘transgender’ pro-Palestinian Berlin demonstrators will travel on to the Düsseldorf event.
