European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen hailed Pride Week on X stating “The EU Commission is proud,” adding that Pride is a vital “celebration of love, identity, courage, and community.” She emphasized that the Commission works tirelessly year-round to ensure Europe remains a space where every individual can live “freely, openly, and authentically.” The rainbow flag has been hoisted on the EC building and will remain there for the duration of Pride Week.

The Commission is doubling down on its LGBT advocacy that many EU citizens find inaproppriate and right-wing parties argue is prioritizing gender ideology over child welfare, forcing a shift that ignores traditional safeguards for minors. Brussels is even willing to interfere in nation states’ domestic legislation to promote it gender agenda. Most recently, after the Commission had filed a lawsuit against the now ousted Orbán government over the country’s Child Protection Law, the European Court of Justice ruled that the legislation violates fundamental rights. It remains to be seen whether the new, Péter Magyar-led government will repeal the law.
