Marion Maréchal took to social media and posted critically about the way France’s Constitutional Council continues to obstruct the will of the people.
Since 1958, the institution has been responsible for providing checks and balances before a new law goes into effect by ensuring it is compatible with the French constitution. However, Identité-Libertés leader Maréchal called out the body on Wednesday, June 17th, with a sarcastic X post which reads:
Could the eminences of @Conseil_constit kindly indicate to us on which subjects they deign to allow the people to give their opinion?
So that we save time.
The comments came after the Council rejected proposals for a national referendum on euthanasia.
