The allegations have fuelled fears of expanding Iranian covert activity across Europe.

Suspected Iranian operatives are attempting to recruit people in Britain to organise anti-Israel protests, according to a report that has intensified criticism of the Labour government’s response to Tehran.

The Times reported that an undercover journalist was offered money by a suspected Iranian agent to organise demonstrations in London and recruit others sympathetic to Tehran’s anti-Israel messaging.

Elsewhere across Europe, documents suggest officers from the terrorist Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) are also working in the EU under diplomatic cover, and that Tehran is hoping to expand covert operations further once its war with the U.S. and Israel is over.

The suspected Iranian agent also told the undercover Times journalist that “anyone with any ability should declare it and explain what their abilities and access are so we can make a plan for them.”

British Jewish journalist Stephen Pollard responded that “everyone knows this is happening but still our government refuses to act against Iran.”

The Campaign Against Antisemitism added: “Incitement dressed up as anti-Israel activism has real consequences for British Jews.”

At a worrying time of heightened antisemitic violent attacks—several of which have been claimed by an Islamist group Harakat Ashab al-Yamin al-Islamia, which experts say has links to the IRGC—the Iranian threat can no longer be ignored.

London’s Metropolitan Police is currently investigating whether recent attacks on Jewish-linked premises could be linked to a foreign state.

Separate reports have also raised concerns about Iranian covert activity elsewhere in Europe, including allegations that IRGC operatives are working under diplomatic cover in EU countries.
